The party has encountered a staggering number of communities people in Eberron so far. This page exists to help party members keep it all straight, and for readers to get a better idea of what an organization is about, since they don’t get the benefit of hearing the explanations at the table.
Blademarks Guild – a group of mercenaries under the command of House Deneith, and hired out for basic soldiering and security functions. Individuals are loyal to the Guild and to the House, so dependability may vary.
Boromar Clan – the halfling mafia. The most powerful and influential halfling clans have conspired to engage in almost all manner of illicit activity across the continent of Khorvaire; grift, robbery, bribes, heists… anything but assassinations. Tried to assimilate House Tarkanan in the past, but failed. So long as House Tarkanen doesn’t target the halflings, peace between these two shady groups is maintained.
Clifftop Adventurers Guild – a group of adventurers headquartered in Sharn specializing in exploration, particularly of the dark continent of Xen-Drik. They have entered into an agreement with House Cannith and House Orien to design a new generation of airship.
The Cogsfolk – living in the Cogs and working at smaller foundries, the locals are resilient and dependable. They adopted Gnofulk as their own, and the gnome has become the face of the party down there after the party gained notoriety for defeating the impending Silver Flame crusade.
The Community – a group of survivalists who fled into the woods near Fal-Narath, and gave up their shadows to a demon in exchange for safety from a tumultuous world. After accidentally slaying the elders who had helped enslave the Community and turn them into de facto cultists, the party purposefully slew the shadow demon in charge. The community got their shadows back, and began to re-engage with the world. They are now led by Shades, former missionaries for the Community who were given and now retain the power to manipulate shadows around them.
Daask – the Daask are a monster mafia of sorts, and many of the more monstrous or insidious-looking races such as tieflings, orcs, goblins, satyrs, and bestial-looking half men can be found in their ranks. The violent criminal organization hails from Droaam, and they are making inroads into neighboring countries; violently acquiring new turf.
House Cannith – associated with the Mark of Making. Their coat of arms is a metal minotaur. They are artificers, tinkerers and innovators, responsible for nearly all of the technological wonders in Eberron, including the Warforged and Lightning Rail. They have entered into an agreement with the Clifftop Adventurers Guild and House Orien to design a new generation of airship.
House Deneith – associated with the Mark of the Sentinel. Their coat of arms is a chimera. A militarily-inclined house in control of the Blademarks Guild.
House Ghallanda – associated with the Mark of Hospitality. Their coat of arms is a blink hound. They are not involved with violence or soldering in any way, instead offering hospitality and sanctuary to all, and in so doing, have become purveyors of many inns and places of rest throughout the continent of Khorvaire. Their neutrality is respected; their enclaves free from local law, and they often serve as middlemen to their patrons, introducing patrons to those who can provide the goods and services they seek.
House Orien – associated with the Mark of Passage. Their coat of arms is a unicorn. They are reliable couriers and messengers in Eberron, their agents plentiful and from a myriad of races. They have entered into an agreement with the Clifftop Adventurers Guild and House Cannith to design a new generation of airship.
House Tarkanen – associated with Aberrant Dragonmarks. Their coat of arms is a Beholder. They are reclusive and protective of their secrets, and organized into cells. They specialize in assassinations and violent acquisitions. Many, many years ago, the Boromar clan attempted to assimilate them, but failed. So long as House Tarkanen doesn’t target the halflings, peace between these two shady groups is maintained.
Morgrave University – a renowned place of learning, located in Upper City, Dura Plateau, in Sharn. The institution specializes in the academic investigations of the dark continent of Xen-Drik, contracting often with the Clifftop Adventurers Guild and leading that academic field, though a number of respected and almost respected researchers, professors and archivists work at the University.
Order of the Wayward Blades – one of the very few heterodoxies or sects to exist within the monolithic Silver Flame. Members have committed grievous sins in their pasts, and have joined in an attempt at redemption, by doing the good they perceive for themselves. Each paladin keeps a chronicle of their lives with them, usually chained to their armor or around their person. After death, their hope is that their story can be shared with others, and enlighten them, allowing them to avoid the repeating the sins of the past.
Sealers of the Stone Maw – a tiny, insular religious order based in Fal-Hatet, a small mountain town they founded under the guise of allowing a place for caravans to rest in the rugged terrain. However, a secret is interred in the bedrock. They were actually founded to guard and keep closed an extra-planar portal which their progenitors had sealed generations ago. After putting their souls to rest, and ending the lives of Brenda Halim, the Mover of Pieces, and “Herald,” the deformed and broken former Prime Sealer after they betrayed the party, the order is presumed extinct.
Silver Flame – a zealous and hierarchical religion. Many will act on orders from above without question. The religion is most dominant in the nation of Thrane, but very common throughout the continent of Khorvaire. Believes the ends justify the means – and the members seek to put an end to any perceived evil, no matter the cost to themselves or others.
Watchmen/Sharn City Watch – clad in red, these predominately human patrolmen police Sharn, which has divided the city into 12 districts, known as Towers as well as one Central Tower, housing the elite enforcers, central staff, and the strongest holding cells. Each Tower is individually run. The pay is alright, but supplemental income, usually from illicit methods, is often sought out. While they are more than likely to prevent a crime they see, don’t expect them to seek out danger recklessly.
The Wizened – little is known of these long-forgotten orange-clad monks. Legends speak of them being philosophic, exploring the concept of death.
=======================================================================
Professor Thorntongue - a foul-mouthed cleric and professor of religious studies at Morgrave University. She helped the party uncover some of the legends surrounding the Wizened, and joined the party in their bloody reunion with Zyn, Avatar of the Fey.

Savvy players may take note when an NPC actually has a name, or keeps popping up in sessions. While not all of the named NPCs encountered by the party appear on this page, many notable ones do appear here, so players can maybe get the names right from time to time.
Asmund – huge, half-ogre paladin in the Order of the Wayward Blades. Met the party on the Electric Rail heading to Sharn, and helped them foil the impending crusade against the Daask and the Cogsfolk bystanders.
Blume – Master of the Order of the Wayward Blades, and a very old elf. Very effective general and strategist in the past. Tried to assume temporary command over the remnants of the Silver Flame crusaders, but since the party decided not to distribute his orders (be simple messengers), the crusaders could not be convinced to stand down, and many died.
Brenda Halim – known as the Mover of Pieces, Brenda was quartermaster to the Sealers of the Stone Maw, a small group of clerics sworn to guard an extra planar portal deep in a mountain. She was corrupted by an impossibly black tome, enslaved the broken, former Prime Sealer, and betrayed the party. The dwarf druid known as Bearchief, eviscerated her while in his bear form while the party struggled to close the nascent portal.
Feral Fawcett – this elusive medusa appears to be the mastermind behind the Daask activities in Sharn. scared out of her hiding spot in the Cogs, the medusa is on the run, but apparently planning something big…
Gofer – a member of a community of Warforged, and courier for House Orien, the party saved him from a possessed Owlbear. Ever-courteous and thankful, the warforged presented the party with broaches, marking them as friends of his community, and he has crossed paths with the party several times before.
Grrrrrrra – a small female of orcish descent in the Cogs. She gave the party information on the Daask’s doings in the Cogs, and Kyllar found and gave her a goblin’s axe from the party’s adventures in thanks.
Madam Inquisitive - a calm, composed elf with her own small detective firm. She was hired to fill in for a City Watch detective while he was on vacation, and was the party's main contact for investigating the grisly murders.
Melora Forgestoker – minor member in House Cannith. The party visited her forge to pick up some weapons that had been pre-paid… but found it overrun with rust monsters. After the party reclaimed her mine and rescued her kin, she forged a magical weapon for Gnofulk, as the gnome has lost his to the rusties. Additionally, she scribbled out a note, asking House Cannith to grant the party a small favor upon request, since she was unable to properly reward the party.

Naris – a Shade in the Community, and their new presumptive leader, whose goal is to reintegrate them into society at large. Like all Shades, he retained the ability to warp shadows around him.
Professor Thorntongue - a foul-mouthed cleric and professor of religious studies at Morgrave University. She helped the party uncover some of the legends surrounding the Wizened, and joined the party in their bloody reunion with Zyn, Avatar of the Fey.
Rhaaal – a plate-clad orc pit and prize fighter currently living in the Cogs. First encountered by the party on the Electric Rail on its way to Sharn. Became friends and sparring partners with Gnofulk, and helped the party foil the crusade in the Cogs. Nearly always accompanied by his trainer, the goblin Zeke.
Sorai – a dragonborn paladin from the Order of the Wayward Blades. She was encountered very early on by the party, while they were venturing north from Fal-Narah to Fal-Hatet. The party found her dying, beyond all hope. She imparted some wisdom to the party, such as “never split the party” and “be watchful of rogues.” Her personal chronicle was delivered to Asmund in Sharn.
Steve Carlsburg von Brighthammer Jr. – a grumpy dwarf entering his twilight years without any great deeds to his name, and a zealot of the Silver Flame in Sharn. Believed the Daask were responsible for massacring the Silver Flame clerics in Sharn, and tried to organize a crusade against the Cogs; the only known turf of the monstrous gangsters. His plans were foiled by the party, and the dwarf was flipped into the lava, loot and all, by a suplex from Gnofulk.
Zeke – tiny but intelligent goblin currently living in the Cogs, and is a friend and trainer to the orc fighter Rhaaal. First encountered by the party on the Electric Rail on its way to Sharn. Became friends with Gnofulk, and for his help in foiling the crusade in the Cogs, was appointed as the representative from the Cogs on Sharn’s Council. Has offered to name a Cogs street after the party… if they can ever decide on a name for their intrepid group.
Zoop – was a short order cook in a bistro car, and was saved by the party during the fight on the Electric Rail as it careened towards Sharn. Now resides in Sharn, and is owner/operator of Zoop’s Soops in the Cogs. He totally souped a Silver Flame soldier in the face once.
Zyn – a former member of the party, the secretive Drow ranger disappeared in the dead of night before the party embarked on the Electric Rail heading to Sharn. While investigating a rash of grisly murders, the party discovered that Zyn was the murderer. The drow had heard whispers from his dead master and left the party... only to fall into the service of some powerful fey gods. They tasked him with killing the drow god Vulkoor, hiding somewhere in Xen'Drik, and Zyn was growing and honing his skills in Sharn when he was found out by the party and brought to justice.
